A Californian tribal casino's slot machine jackpot winner claims her good fortune was long overdue.
According to the Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, on Sunday, May 31, Michelle K. struck gold while playing a Dancing Drums Dragon game. With a mere $8 wager, the Light & Wonder machine made $1,278,830.66.
"I still can’t believe I won, but I deserve this,” Michelle said.
After the historic victory, Sycuan gave Michelle a complimentary stay and a treatment at Spa Ritual to help her unwind.
“It’s truly special to see our guests experience moments like this where a single spin can change someone’s life in an instant,” said Rob Cinelli, general manager of the casino resort. “We extend our sincere congratulations to our guest on her life-changing jackpot win.”
In Southern California, Sycuan is around thirty minutes away from San Diego's downtown. The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation owns and runs the resort.
2,400 slot machines, 50 live dealer table games, poker and bingo rooms, 300 hotel guestrooms, a resort pool with cabanas, 80,000 square feet of convention space, a spa, and an 18-hole golf course are all available at Sycuan.
Jackpots that Change Lives
Michelle's $1.2 million prize, according to Sycuan, was the biggest slot win at the casino this year. After winning million-dollar prizes in January and February, it was the third seven-figure windfall.
Sycuan claims that its machines have paid out about $68 million so far this year.
A fortunate gambler at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa in Florida won $1.18 million on a $25 wager. The play was based on an Aristocrat Gaming Dragon Link game. A $15 spin on Light & Wonder's Frankenstein machine at Gila River's Lone Butte casino in Arizona earned a gambler $1.4 million.
The most lucrative victory in recent memory occurred at Aria on the Strip in Las Vegas. A player won a $2,359,167 Dragon Link jackpot on a $100 spin, according to the MGM Resorts resort.
Players with little stakes have also found success. A gambler at MGM's Beau Rivage in Biloxi earned $1,132,124.08 in January while playing a one-cent Wheel of Fortune machine. Additionally, a New Jersey online gambler using Hard Rock Bet earned $1.94 million on a 20-cent wager last month.
